The 2017 zone 4.4 championship was hosted by the Liberia Chess Federation from the 20th of April as arrival with departure on 30th April.
The technical panel of the tournament was as follow:

There were 22 players from 4 federations namely Liberia, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, 12 rated players out of which 6 had titles, 5 been FM (fide master) and 1 CM (candidate master).
At the end of the 9 rounds, FM BALOGUN OLUWAFEMI of Nigeria had 8 points out of 9 coming 1st and getting an IM title while FM KIGIGHA BOMO of Nigeria and FM DEGONDO SIMPLICE ARMEL of Côte d’Ivoire coming 2nd and 3rd respectively with 7.5 and 7 points both get an IM norm. HARMON BARCON of Liberia and ADZUA GEOFFREY of Nigeria had 6 points each both get an FM title. The following 6 players get a CM title: JALLAH JOHN, WAYLEA JOHN, JALLAH JACOB, KALOKOH ABRAHAM, KOLLIEMELEN DANIEL all from Liberia with ATABOR JOB of Nigeria making it 6 players that got the CM title.
The winner also qualified for the 2017 World Cup to be held in Georgia.
