The second round of the 2015 Metropolitan National Chess championships was held at Oasis Motel in Tlokweng from 7-8 March 2015. The tournament saw top 23 players from the open section and 17 from the ladies section who qualified after the first round that was held in Gaborone in February 2015 battle out for 10 slots in the finals that will be held during the Easter holidays, 3-6 April 2015 in Gaborone.

The ladies section players were joined by the defending champion Woman International Master Onkemetse Francis. The open section defending champion Fide Master Phemelo Khetho was unable to take part in the tournament due to personal commitments.

Open section and ladies section champions will emerge from the top 10 selected players who have made it to the finals from the 2 sections. The champions from both ends will make it into the provisional national teams that will eventually represent the country at the 2015 Zone 4.3 Chess Championships in Malawi and the 2015 Africa Individual Chess Championships in Egypt.
