TODAY'S CHESS PIC OF THE DAY: The Chess beauty queen!!!
Zambia's very own Women Fide Master (WFM) Lorita Mwango!!! Her notoriety on the chess scene can be traced back to 2010, when she won a lot of chess accolades both in her country and internationally!!! In the same year (2010) she was the national ladies school champion! Her splendid performance in Zambia qualified her to represent her country at the 2010 Africa youth chess championships in Bostwana; she later went on to represent her country the same year at the chess olympiads in Russia!!! From 2010 Lorita would continue her 'international chess tour' by thwarting local opposition to continue her never ending dominance!!! Playing in many regional tournaments including the Zimbabwe open and CUCSA games in Angola, Lorita's seems to have an insatiable appetite for chess glory! The 2011/2012 silver medalist at the African youth chess championships has been both Zambia open and closed chess champion and won other local tournaments such as Airtel chess challenge and UNZA open!!! At the 2015 Zone 4.3 in Malawi, she was just behind Bostwana's veteran player, WIM Mudongo!!! Her stability on the board seems to be one of her major strength and makes her a very difficult opponent to beat, not only by other female players but even strong male players!!! Several male players of 2100 and above strength have been dismantled by this chess queen!!! For instance, at the 2015 UNZA open, which she won, other than beating other male players she tortured and tormented a well known Zambian player, Randy Douglas! At the same tournament she drew with (after she made some blunders) two times UNZA best player and the current national interuniversity and colleges chess champion, Partick Mwansa! Lorita's strength on the chess board as continued to grow, and she was actually Zambia's board one player at the 2014 chess olympiads!!!
